What is government?
Government is the foundation of a democracy that controls a nation or society. The elected officials that govern a community are responsible for administering public policy and defending human rights as well as working toward moving the nation forward. Why is it important? A government is vital in a society to maintain order and prevent chaos. The government sets guidelines for citizens to abide by, as well as protecting its people from harm. The government also provides services such as schools, police, and infrastructure, as long as citizens pay taxes. And as Thomas Hobbes claims, all humans are greedy and selfish, which shows that a government is necessary to avoid madness. |
